Danny Iny, How to Grow a Massive Email List With Guest Blogging expert built an online business by starting off as a guest blogger after his offline business went down in the 2008 market crash. Danny was saddled with $250,000 in debt and with his company gone, he had to start over. “They say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and sometimes, that’s not so practical,” Danny says. “The best you can do is start putting one foot in front of the other.”

He started to slowly rebuild his consulting practice, working the networking event circuit to build up a client base. But the more he expanded, the less time he had to focus on his current customers, so Danny came up with a solution—blogging. “I had this vague idea that blogging was somehow related to selling, that I would write content and somehow customers would come, but I didn’t see how the dots connected,” Danny says. “I just accepted that they were supposed to connect.”

His blogging breakthrough came a year later in 2011, when he finally started to connect his writing with the need to establish relationships with his readers. Soon after, he started to receive invitations to write for major blogs, where he met one of the co-authors of his book Engagement From Scratch. In 2012, he launched Write Like Freddy, a blog-training program and his current project.

Based on his experience, Danny heavily emphasizes the need to understand and build a relationship with your blog audience as a way to help turn your readers into customers. “If nobody knows who you are and nobody likes you and nobody trusts you, selling anything is very hard,” Danny says. “But if thousands of people know you and like you and trust you, selling anything is easy.” It is with this attitude that Danny has helped his clients leverage the power of the online space and use blogging and email lists as incredibly powerful ways to generate leads and monetize your business.
